Comedy Magic
Matt Donnelly’s Mind Noodler act has been dazzling audiences with his unique and hilarious brand of magic for almost a decade. Years ago while Matt was working as head writer on Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Penn Jillette challenged him to learn just one trick. Matt learned one trick each from seven magicians, put them together into the Mind Noodler show, and hasn’t stopped working since.
After decades of improv performing, teaching, and writing (including for The Wayne Brady Show) Matt spent a couple years on tour opening for Piff the Magic Dragon with his own take on comedy magic. Now he tours his own show, amazing audiences at venues like Las Angeles’ The Magic Castle, The Chicago Magic Lounge, and Nashville’s House of Cards. He has also starred in national tours including The Jokers of Magic, Penn & Teller present The Foolers, and in “Comedy, Magic, and Mayhem” with Bryan Saint and Michael Goudeau. In Fall 2026 he’ll be part of The Tricksters: Inside Penn & Teller’s Vault on Virgin Voyages.
Offstage Matt cohosts Penn Jillette’s award-winning podcast Penn’s Sunday School and his own magic podcast Abracababble with RJ Owens and Reddi Rich. (He has cohosted another popular comedy podcast for over 1,300 episodes he’ll tell you about if you ask; they also released a comedy music album that was #1 on iTunes.) He wrapped eleven seasons as head writer of Penn & Teller: Fool Us on the CW, and performs regularly with Paul Mattingly and other comedy partners in the “Best Comedy Show in Las Vegas,” the Bucket Show.
